Water transfer printing The water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film printed in gravure is soaked in a dip tank filled with warm water for a defined period of time. Subsequently, the activator is sprayed uniformly opaque with a spray gun, whereby the printed color of the PVA film peels off. The film loses its film properties and now floats like a color film on the water surface. The prepared component can now be dipped at a slow speed at the correct angle and, if necessary, with a corresponding rotation. Subsequently, the now foiled article is still freed from the superfluous PVA support layer and dried. After that, the decor must be covered with a clear coat to protect it (glossy - matt). It is always important to pay attention to the quality of the topcoat, as it is crucial for the light resistance and abrasion resistance. What can be coated? Since almost all materials for water transfer printing have to be painted before coating, it can be said that everything that can be painted and what fits in the correspondingly large plunge pool is possible, such as metal, wood, glass and plastics.
